The Somerton Man was exhumed on May 21, 2021

Something appears to be delaying the official identification of the Somerton Man, unlike Dr Colleen Fitzpatrick who with Professor Derek Abbott trumpeted their success in identifying him as Carl Webb back in July 2022, over a year ago.

Anyone?

Either they still haven’t got around to dealing with the remains, this is SA after all. Or, they already know who/where he came from and they are, for some reason, known only to themselves, delaying the envitable.

    • You’re on the ground down there, Clive, how hard would it be finding out what successes they’ve had lately and how long it took them?

The Govt won’t waste time and resources on it searching for DNA links or anything else for that matter which is why the evidence got dumped.
Let others do the work and then cross check it
They’ve done that, it’s not Carl Webb, there’s nothing to report (or another reason)
Wait for the next one to check if there ever is one
The Govt may never confirm or deny anyway
It’s how they work for a variety of reasons including potential liability and a claim against them
If you’ve worked in the Govt you know that

    • No One:- the SA Special Branch had the dirt on so many people that they held the upper hand over it’s own administration and others so it had to go, and with it (in 1984) went most of our information about SM, and the absolute shambles the legal system was in in SA.

You would be staggered by the level of crime the Govt is involved in in the Lands Titles Office
    They’ve got your house

Government plays by different rules to the private world. Some of this means using their own databases rather than crowdsourced ones. Their processes might not let them confirm (or deny) the Webb claims.
Add to that that they probably have very little time, this is not a major priority, and ultimately any ID they make or don’t make is about tying out one of their investigations, not necessarily publicising a result.

Only thing I could think of is a FoI request about “where you at?” – but I suspect they’d justcharge you dollars to simply reply “nothing to see here”

The SA cops ballsing up a pretty simple project ??? No its not possible.

Sounds like they’ve handled this with same level of professionalism as they have since the day they found old mate on Somerton beach.

See this is why I laugh at all the conspiracy theories. The SA plods couldn’t co-ordinate the rolling of a hoop down a f….ing hill. Unless there was a box of Krispy creme doughnuts at the bottom. Let alone pull of a conspiracy.

” Why didn’t this get checked?” “why wasn’t that followed up?”

    ” CONSPIRACY !!!!”

No just complete ,mind blowing, incompetence.

Trying to find out about the SM’s DNA result is, apparently a big secret here in SA. FOI? Just an ‘official’ way of saying no.

@ A Lurker… Concerning FOI requests, where are the press with this? There seems to be a lack of curiosity from the media in general over this delay.

    • They’ve been warned off. So many suppression orders in SA, these organisations are afraid to print anything related to doctors names, victims names, SM, paedophilia, gay hate, lgbtqix or medical experimentation etc, etc.
