How I see it ..
I don’t believe Carl (Charlie) Webb is the Somerton Man, moreover, I believe the man identified in the photo as Charlie is in fact the other Charlie in the family ..

The DNA from the exhumation doesn’t correlate with DA’s findings and so Carl Webb isn’t Somerton man
Otherwise you’d get an announcement by now

Ain’t necessarily so No-one, unless of course you are privy to insider leakage from a certain Some-one on Sapol’s forensic DNA team; more likely as not imo.

So, if what you’re insisting re two Charlies, they being twelve years apart (1905 & 1917) be the genuine article, then you’ll surely agree with my like insistance that the photo was taken around 1936. (Not 1925 as given initially by both Prof. Abbott & Stewart Webb, or any time pre 1930), when Charlie Mk.two was then going on twenty. You got my nod on that one but, I can’t figure out what all the date and ID confusion has it got to do with Somerton Man.

It’s got a lot to do with proving Abbott got things wrong twice: he picked the wrong Charlie and the hair didn’t belong to the body.

Three if you include the height discrepency, or is that still subject to further debate?

No further debate required, the height discrepancy is indicative of Abbott’s failure to properly research his claims.

Breaking news in that Gordon Cramer has just posted the ABC story on Sapol’s impending report to the SA coroner dated 6th July last. Well done that man, you’ll never stop surprising.

There’s no timeframe for completion because it ain’t Carl Webb:
In response, a police spokesperson said: “A SAPOL coronial investigation in relation to the ‘Somerton Man’ is complex and ongoing.”
“Once completed, SAPOL will provide a report to the Coroner.”
Once the police hand their report to the coroner, the coroner will decide whether or not to hold an inquest.

When I first determined that Carl Webb was not Somerton Man back in July 2022 I was in hospital having some surgery and in process of inspecting my most recent embelishments in the form of scar tissue. It dawned on me then and there that the man on the beach had been of himself almost a cleanskin. That is apart from recently skinned knuckles and also some juvenile vaccination scars; And yet we are told by those in the know that Webb had been a baker in the family shop where permanent burn marks from the baking ovens be part and parcel to the job. After that stint Carl learnt the art of a fitter & machinist, in so doing having to get used to a miriade of work caused injuries plus resultant highly visible scars too numerous to mention. When I got back from my jaunt I reported in on my findings and got what I expected for my troubles. Yep I think you got it there No. I in that Carl Webb is not Somerton Man. Makes two of us!

Three of us then, plus GC if you can count him as being a worthy contender for negative. What does Clive have to say, yea or nay?

What do I have to say? I think this Webb saga is making Charlie’s of everyone! As ‘dusty as can be’ states, working in a bakery, you’re bound to get burn marks at some stage, part and parcel of the job, I suppose. It just seems too easy to i.d. the SM as Carl Webb, job done. The delay in confirming that it was Carl Webb speaks for itself surely?

That should be the case but, as you may recall, it took forensics twelve. years of exacting DNA comparison analysis to identify Carley float body as being that of able seamanThomas Welsby Clarke. And guess what, in all probability they got it wrong due to bias and selective favavouritism. Stands out quite clearly if one goes through the indepth NAA file and related newspaper items from November 2021. Same outcome might be expected in the special case of Carl Webb who has the numbers on his side.

Fifteen years it was Clive; body with gold teeth exumed from 1942 Christmas Island graveyard in 2006. Mumified body with full a full set of pearly whites had came ashore on a coir stuffed ships Carley float to rousing reception of islanders including a local examining physician. 2021 DNA ID came just as a book on the subject was about to be released, authors being a scholastic relative couple of the aforesaid Carley float nominee Tom Clarke. PS the float, allegedly off the HMAS Sydney had been of Dutch East Indies manufacture fom memory.
