Getting it Wrong 2
Professor Derek Abbott is on record as saying the tools found in the Somerton Man’s suitcase were obviously used by him in his trade as an electrical engineer. Nobody disagreed. Everybody nodded their heads in agreement. As usual. The bloke’s a Professor right? And what are we? Not Professors.
But we’re not fools with tools.
Do you think that when an electrical engineer shows up for work in the factory or whatever it is that employs him he gets a set of free issue tools? What if he’s one of a dozen doing the same job fitting building and fixing electrical stuff laid out on the work benches, you reckon management might spring for free tools to all of them?
Nope, it doesn’t work like that, employers are and were tight arses .. so tradesmen got to bring their own equipment to the job and like most tradesmen they look after their gear, not being cheap to replace. Right Professor? Then again I’m thinking good old UoA give you everything you need to pursue your own agenda. Right Prof?

And these, plus a toolbox to keep them all in … these they locked up and left under the workbench. This is common knowledge in un-professorial circles.
But not our man as it’s a widely held belief (thanks again Professor) that all he needed to do his work was was something a little less complicated.

Interesting what you mentioned Pete, just a cut down knife and a small pair of scissors. Also, possibly using a screwdriver to close electric box etc?

Clive, that pathetic collection of bits and pieces found in the suitcase could in no way be construed as ‘tools’, what’s more likely is that he used the scissors to trim his nose hairs and the broken knife to clean his toe nails.

The dude 4711 might take exception as it would put his cleverly constructed car stealing kit contribution in jeopardy, especially the tar brush? and electrical screwdriver?.
