Now Hair’s the Thing
Something’s not quite clear. If a man was to read all that’s available about how many hairs were collected by SA Forensics and by whom not to mention from where and when then he would wonder whether the hair sample was a chunk of rooted follicles or a single un- rooted follicle or a thoroughly rooted seventy-three year old follicle collected by SAPOL or was handed by someone to someone who passed it on to someone up the chain or if it was collected by a forensic boffin or found by the bloke cleaning the floor of the Police Museum maybe two years ago or ten possibly thirty.
…This is not a satisfactory state of affairs.
I’d give Professor Abbott a bell and ask him but we know he sometimes gets the facts wrong himself. I’m thinking Cleland’s cardigan. Bad blue that. Long remembered.
So I’m figuring we might scope out the entire collection of ifs buts and maybes and compile them here into a comprehensive list for future generations.
Reasonable ask?

Be it bust hair, rodent hair, feline hair, one of Paul’s stuffed ape hairs or a hair of the dog..I doubt that it has F. Hall to do with Colleen”s Fitzpatrick’s recovered single unrooted test hair and how she ended up settling for a Freda Keane gene susewuently traced to a pre ‘groomed’ Uni of S.A. FB member who knew his way around a film studio set and pledged never to let on about the misidentification with the T. Keane tie.

DNA can’t be used to solve it
Not even DNA from the body in the grave can
because it’s a safe bet that body wasn’t the one on the beach
They were too clever for that

Never underestimate the old ways, I’m confident they could still solve the case. The old foxes made sure to take fingerprints of the SM:

If one would assume an ambiguous route from the beach to the grave, then how can one even be sure that the lively face of my delight was truly lifeless?

I’ve often mentioned in the past that the mortuary prints be submitted for re-evaluation, particularly in light of advances made since they were taken. T’other ambiguous ‘assumption’ be best left for those with fertile imaginations to contemplate.

John or leave it to the people charged with the task. I’m interested to learn ‘the wisdom of the crowd’, but it’s hard to try not to think of a pink elephant!
