Thoughts of an idle mind
IF The Somerton Man was to be identified as someone other than Charlie Webb it would throw suspicion on all those who were part of Derek Abbott’s grand revelation – remembering that Colleen Fitzpatrick had nothing to do with claiming Webb was SM, he was DA’s baby.
Conspiracy?
Not another one.
Because then we would know why the pic (below) was labelled when it appears no others in the album were similarly enhanced and why it was apparently the only page that had been stuck to another and had to be gently unpeeled.
How many pages are there in one of those old photo albums and why weren’t they all stuck together? Maybe they were. Stuart Webb never answered me on that.

All in all it would be a significant shit fight worldwide given the publicity the case had attracted – think of all the hundreds of newspaper articles, dozens of TV interviews, scores of documentaries, myriad expert opinions loudly aired, uncounted magazine articles.
I don’t know about some folks but I do know some other folks would gain a certain satisfaction from seeing the whole thing going pear-shaped.
But the chances of that happening must be a million to one, right?
Yeah, right.

Whoever was responsible for touching up the 1920s? Webb family pics needs to consider the possible legal ramifications. Likewise those who claimed them as the genuine article and put them on display knowing them to be fake. As for the fools that be nontheless happy to accept them as the real McCoy and thus satisfied with the Australia Story presentation of same, need to have their flamin’ heads read.

Then of course you might remember the unforgivable, stupid, unprofessional, incompetent, dill-witted attempts by SAPOL’s finest as they trod gum-booted over every clue as to how SM arrived in SA, who clipped his ticket, who binned his luggage, how he arrived in town seemingly pissed it seems and arrives at the beach unseen.
