No One: It’s SA, so what do u expect? I wonder if anyone at the forensics have actually examined the remains since exhumation? Probably in the too hard casket!

In 1948 a few police at the top would have had knowledge but the police were largely told by a higher authority to butt out.
Jess said – only known to a level higher than the police force. Here and the US I’d say based on the items found.
Remember this was 1948 in sleepy Adelaide, city of churches, and people were fairly naive. The war is over, back to normal life.
It’s just a guy who died on the beach without any ID on him who suicided because of unrequited love.
Gerry Feltus and the rest of the force was left out in the cold trying to piece together what was already known and those who got too close would have had obstacles thrown in front of them.
This has stalled because it has become too close for comfort for the authorities. It may stay that way forever.
