Never mind Romeo, wherefore art thou Charlie?

There may be some confusion about the two Charlies: Carl Charles (CC) Charles Richard (CR) and the Somerton Man (SM).

The current belief that CC is SM was promoted by the high IQ Prof. DA on ABC TV though not by ex DSS GF but we are waiting for SAPOL’s DNA OK which their DS said will be done ASAP which is NFL given SA CIB’s OT budget restrictions so it’s TS on those expectations.

Well, for WIW and IMHO here at TBT and in agreement at GC’s TSBS, neither pic of CC or CR is SM’s ID. So, the next time somebody says one of them is SM you can LOL because it’s BS. OK?

NB: BTW, NP at CM is slowly coming around, probably a case of FOMO. Talk about LMAO.

Well IMHO CC formally known as SM was DOA at 90A after calling X3292 and for those suffering ADHD or pinging on LSD who think otherwise I say drop another E wack some YMCA or BEEGEES on the MP3 and start looking for ET and his UFO or climb back in the bunker you built during Y2K.

I did hear that when CC went to WA he hooked up at the YMCA with a WA lady named Elsie. Story goes that CC was Keen to share some DNA so he rolled a J had a DNM with Elsie who skipped the Q and A and the 4 play, pulled off her PJs and rode CC like a BMX.

    • Dude, Enough of this rubbish … I have asked you a question on Cipher you seem to be unable to answer clearly … would you like to try again?

Well, IMHO DA knows BA regarding SM & the DNA. Since CF is now stating ‘not me’, it’s up to SAPOL to “pullover” DA. GF must be LOL

You started the “rubbish” PB. But re your question on CM I have indeed answered it but as you know Dome only moderates once a day so you’ll see that answer when NP does his thing.

But the answer is there’s no car boosting kit on sale at Bunnings you’ve got to improvise your own. Yes Carl had a plethora of tools at his disposal no doubt but your hardly going to rome the streets after midnight wearing your tool belt. Clearly the tools are designed to be easily concealed.

    December 19, 2022
  6. Dude, bro (?) Concealed from who? Are you saying the local police were smart enough to spot a car thief before he actually stole one? In CW’s case, a very well-dressed car thief with clean un-calloused hands and highly polished shoes?
Are you suggesting that a squad of eagle-eyed police roamed the streets of Glenelg on the look-out for car thieves?
And what sort of car thief would leave his tools in an unlocked suitcase back at the railway station? I mean, that’s what he was in town for, to boost a few motors, yes?
Come on Dude, play the dance monkey and give us a few answers, your reputation needs them.

No your right PB car thieves walked the streets wearing black and white stripes and Lone Ranger masks with their tool kit slung over their shoulders in a big brown sack didn’t they !.

What was I thinking ? that a car thief out on the prowl in the dead of night may want to look as innocuous as possible AND make an effort to conceal his tools just in case!!
Thats nuts PB thanks for pointing it out.

    December 20, 2022
    • Usually, dude, when a man sports a position that others may not agree with, such as yours with regard to CW being a car thief … he would expect you to be able give some helpful responses, after all you’ve been promoting your car thief hypothesis for many, many years and to my recollection you’ve had few challenges. Perhaps I could try another way .. Why do you think CW was in town? Was it to meet up with PT? If so, where did they meet?
      Back to you, champ.

Its all been well covered PB and its been challenged a million times by yourself included who went to town over at Domes when I first floated it cos everyone else was obsessed with , Alf Boxall , Tibor something or other and other assorted nobody’s who never had diddly squat to do any of this.

He was a Russian spy !!! he was Robins dad !!! There’s micro writing on the ROK !!!! said the so called experts yourself included who lost their bananas when I said he was a car shonk from Melbourne , probably connected to PT and made his own tool kit.

What have we learned since those days?

    Did he have mob connections?
Did he have tool making skills?
Did he fall of the radar ?
Was he a little desperate around that time dodging creditors?
Was he known to the cops?
    Was he from Melbourne?

It think you’ll find its yes to all of the above.

    Was he Robins dad ?
    Was he a Russian spy?
Was there a link to Alf Boxall?

No to all of the above

So Im sorry if anyone who spent five years looking into Alf Boxal wasted their time but lay the car hypothesis against all the other palaver and tell me which one is still standing.

I’m confused- I thought at CM they were nromally quite receptive of the car thief idea (since at least 2015) – it think NP himself proposed that the book was thrown in a car so the car could be identified to the TS slip (or something similar).
Then there was chasing Pruzinski’s in Broken Hill and arguing over which car yards in the City of Adelaide and Wingfield. Sure there were diversions to Tibor and Tudor Gold Watches, but most of that was noise coming out the BS TS site that just happened to be picked up by some of ‘that crowd’ who only post to CM but assume everyone else is reading it – so I think it was still aimed at GC.

But let me have a go at PB’s questions….
I’m not sure SM specifically went to Adelaide to meet up with PT, but birds of a feather…..Maybe the better thing to consider is how they ended up connected. Did someone tip off CW (or whoever he is) to look for Prosper’s taxi ads in the paper? Is that why he’d jotted down the Moseley number? His last ad with phone number before Nov 30, though was 27th Nov – wanting a house….the last car ad was 13th Nov. And as PB points out, leaving your tools in the station seems an odd thing to do…..

      So let’s go speculate some….
Prosper is involved with something shifty (I’ll still go with cars for now). But J is pregnant, and is asking him to settle down. PT decides to cut all ties, and advertises for a house that will hopefully help him move on somewhere and start afresh. Someone over the border gets wind of this (not certain how – does an innocuous ad in Adelaide on the 27th leave enough time to have someone on the overnight train from Melbourne on the 29th? Maybe?). In this case SM is sent to to tell PT “You know leaving is not an option, right?”. Web hasn’t had much time to pack, but he’s got some of his tools with him. No real plans to use them while he speaks to PT, so checks them at the railway (maybe he’ll be back that night and pick them up and go looking for some cars in town). But things don’t quite go the way he planned and he winds up asleep on the beach.
      BUT…this doesn’t explain: Henley ticket, Rubaiyat, etc….
And on that note…..Why the St Leonards bus, why not the Somerton one? If he doesn’t know where he’s going he’s gonna struggle to find it walking from the Anzac Highway. If he knows where he’s going, how come he didn’t realise there’s a bus that gets him closer? Or does he have other business in Glenelg first? Lunch at the fish cafe? Gotta see a chemist about a drug? Maybe he’s rung PT (he has the number) and arranged to meet at St V pub?
As ever more questions than answers…

How long after all of this did the Thomsons move?

      December 20, 2022
      • Lurker … a classified ad in an Adelaide newspaper would be hard to find for someone living in Melbourne as I doubt there were many newsagents selling interstate papers there in 1948. And what kinds of ‘birds of a feather’ do you think CW and Prosper were? CW’s possible ID as a baccarat school nitpicker to being cosy with PT is quite a long shot

        December 20, 2022
  9. Dude, perhaps you misunderstood the questions, so if it’s ok with you I’ll repeat them.
Why do you think CW was in Adelaide?
Was he in Adelaide to meet Prosper?
If so, where did they previously meet?
… and just to keep the show on the road
Why would he have wanted to meet Prosper?

This is your hypothesis Dude, it’s up to you to defend it.

And I apologise if all these questions have been asked and answered a million time at CM, that being the case you shouldn’t have any problems answering them again rather than have me plough through the many thousands of comments over Dome’s way.

.. in addition, and if I can quote you from your last response ..

“I (dude) said he was a car shonk from Melbourne, probably connected to PT and made his own tool kit.”

    Is this what you mean?

I (dude) said he was (probably) a car shonk from Melbourne, probably connected to PT and (probably) made his own (car boosting) tool kit.

Tell you what PB why don’t you go back over your Alf Boxall dossier and tell me what colour Jocks he was wearing the night he met Jestyn cos I reckon you were on to something there.

AND while you’re at it why don’t YOU answer MY question ?

Lay the car crook hypothesis alongside all the other palaver posted here and elsewhere including , Boxall , Jestyn, Marshal, Tibor Kaldor , Rusian spy, freemasons , frontal lobotomies etc etc etc ………

Then tell me which one of those is still standing?

    December 20, 2022
    • None of them are still standing .. but at the time there were a few bright minds trying out every theory under the sun, you on the other hand appeared to have long settled on a hypothesis based on three probables. Two of them being very shaky. Fair comment?

      December 20, 2022
  11. dude47 #

Still not an answer PB. Alongside all the above which have definitively been dismissed? and which are still possible?

    Boxall bowled 0
    Jestyn caught behind 12
    Marshall run out. 2
    T Kibor retired hurt. 3
Carl the Crook not out 180

    December 20, 2022
    • Dude, you have been unable to prove CW knew Prosper in either Melbourne or Adelaide. In addition you have been unable to prove CW was a ‘car shonky’ .. and finally, the tools you say were suitable for boosting cars have also been found to be suitable for stenciling, in particular for stencilling images taken from various editions of the Rubaiyat, a book CW was known to have in his possession and whose quatrains were of the type he was known to read and write.

      December 20, 2022
  12. dude47 #

Yeah Carl had no connection to PT. Ohhh except having PT s effing phone number!!! , the Adelaide car shonk who was a dodgy as a three dollar note and he winds up dead a decent drop punt from PT s front door ?? no connection?

So the gambling wife bashing alimony dodger who disengaged from his family was just a harmless stenciller roaming the countryside stencilling as he went. Makes perfect sense PB I say go with that old son.

    December 20, 2022
    • The phone number was registered to Sister Thomson Moseley St in the ‘Adelaide 47 phone book, not Prosper Thomson. It was her ‘effing’ phone number. Keep it coming, dude, and let’s see how much more of your theory can be disassembled.

      December 20, 2022
  13. dude47 #

Yeah your right PB it wasn’t Prosper T posting the number all about the SA in small adds asking folks to ” contact Thomson x3292 or call in to 90a Mosley st ” what’s most important is who’s name the number is registered under.

Thats it lead distroyed !! Im on the ropes!!! PT s phone was in his girlfriends name so any small ads or the proven fact that PT lived at 90a , used x3239 to run his business is inadmissible. Got me!!

What was I thinking? thank god there’s the likes of you and the Colonel

PB Im sorry that DA a socially awkward middle aged nerd beat you all to the prize but this sore looser pouting by the grumpy old Men is a bit sad.

Like it or not DA won the pissing contest and hell probably be played by SA Neil in the movie with a romantic subplot twist starring Asher Keddie as Rachel Egan.

No doubt they’ll round up all the nerdy types from casting central tom play the bloggers and trolls. Can’t wait !

    December 20, 2022
    • No sore loser here, dude, you underestimate me, but getting back to the phone number, if, as it has been long believed CW arrived in Adelaide the day before he was found dead, would he have found an ad for X3239 in the classifieds on that same day? And if he did, how would he have known where to look and who to look for? Who would have told him? More questions I’m afraid, but if you can put the posturing to one side perhaps we can get to the end of this.

      December 20, 2022
  14. dude47 #

Sure PB Ill play the game. Ill send up the clay pigeons so you can blast at them OK?.

Don’t worry about the car thief stuff. Ive seen the light.

SM was either as GC says now a merchant seaman who died in SA alone who happened to be named CARL WEBB !!!!!!.

BUT. Wait for it ……………This Carl Webb is NOT ! the Carl Webb with the DNA link to SM who disappeared around the same time and has a striking resemblance to SM and all the associated well established connections. Just a random seaman with the exact same name.
LOL F…..N GC cracks me up!

OR as you say SM was another Webb from the Springvale Webb’s who was a travelling stenciller footloose and fancy free roaming around stencilling wherever he went (you can’t make this shit up) who can’t possibly be connected to Prosper T because the phone number for 90a Mosley st where Prosper lived was registered in his girlfriends name.

I concede defeat against the weight of the overwhelming evidence.

    December 20, 2022
    • I would prefer if you admitted conceding defeat because of the overwhelming lack of evidence in support of your car thief theory.
