Pro-tip: Online obituaries are family trees on a silver platter. Let’s look for Kate’s first cousins, since unfortunately it looks like Jestyn’s generation has all passed away.

Could be wrong on all of this but it’s plausible.

I have been following this case for years. The simplest explanation is that Prosper Thomson was Rachael Egans grandfather. I am unsure why any other scenario is being entertained. She would not be the first child screwed up from being adopted. The idea that the Somerton man was her real grandfather needs to be put to bed. Still not sure why they dug him up given this information.
Stepheno, from what I remember, the SA govt agreed to exhume if Prof Abbott raised the funds to pay for it. I’m not sure how much of the 20 grand he collected but there’s no word of him refunding anything. I’ll say one thing though, changing the narrative is almost impossible .. every time the media throw up an article it’s copy and paste from stuff written ten years ago.

I think the exhumation was worthwhile, considering the whole Webb family injection into the SM case is based purely on three hairs on the outside of a plaster cast that were ripe for contamination.
At least, with the whole body, we’ll get a definite result. (If the authorities will ever be arsed to actually get round to testing the body, that is.)
