12 The South Australian Telephone Directory Nov 47 .. Gordon Cramer and Pete Davidson PLEASE NOTE !!

“We now know that the name Thompson did not appear in the Sands &Macdougal Directory until 1949. You see the 1948 directory was published on the available information from 1947 and that would be the same for the telephone directory. What that means is that the name Thompson did not appear in the 1948 Telephone directory for the 90 A Moseley Street address.” Cramer and Davidson.

Thompson ? This egregious error of spelling the name Thomson as Thompson has since been corrected by one of the Cramer ‘team’ ..

Once again we have to deal  with misinformation, this time courtesy of Pete Davidson as well as Gordon Cramer and his ‘team’,  not quite a marriage made in heaven but all on the same wavelength when it comes to spreading badly researched information about this case. The resident committee recommends you read Cramer’s latest post and see if he publishes any correcting comment you may wish to make … and given his record of not publishing comments negative to his published views, there are plentiful reasons for never seeing yours.

Thomson J E Sister 90a Moseley Glnlg …. X3239

Quotes from Gerry Feltus in Dancing with the Dead.

“She was very evasive.”

“She continually changed addresses.” *

“She seemed like someone who was running away from something,

or running away from being found – or identified.”

Considering Feltus interviewed Thomson well after Keane was found dead – he published his book in 2010 – why would she still be running?

*Prosper and Jessie(?) were living at Alta Mira Cres, Belair from about Mar-July(?) 1947, From late 1947 living at Moseley St. By Aug 1950 they were living at 104 Partridge St, Glenelg, By 1953 living at Stanley St, Erindale, By 1959 living at Mingara Ave, Stonyfell, By 1962 living at 15 Ettrick Ave, Medinie, not sure of any other moves from 1963 through to 1991, in 1992 living at 7 Rothesay Ave, Hazelwood Park.

As far as I am aware-Jessie lived in another 5 houses after Moseley St.

    • I know this is a big ask, Clive: do you know over what period of time she completed the five moves?

Um… Clive and Peter, isn’t this all addressed in the original post?

Skindy: you’ll find that our author reserves to edit “original posts” as he goes along. His prerogative, of course. Sometimes it’s helpful, but sometimes it makes it a little difficult to understand how points develop.

He’s also prone to excising whole posts and comment threads when he doesn’t like which way the wind blows.

Again, his prerogative. But I guess that makes it harder to take the high ground when discussing other bloggers’ integrity.

  2. Did George Thomson have his own telephone number listed in that directory? I’ve always assumed he didn’t, but have never actually seen this page before.

    • NickP: Couldn’t get a screen grab of any other page.
PT advertised from Clinic, box 1009J, Hindley St, box 953H up until May ’47 when he started using Moseley St, Hindley St and Alta Mira before he began to regularly use X3239 starting in Oct ’47
Going from that, unless I’m wrong, you could assume he had no other number at the time.

Given what we think we know about Prosper, isn’t it more likely that he was the one “on the run”?

Jess had thrown her lot in with him after he came through for her at a time of need. If she was evasive back in ’48/49, and remained so when cornered by Feltus years later, perhaps it was out of loyalty to her man?

    • I’d say her reaction to seeing the bust was more to do with her relationship with the dead man, rather than his with her boyfriend.

I suppose you could question why did Jessie stay with Prosper? Perhaps Prosper knew a few of Jessie’s secrets and, she stayed to make sure nobody else knew them.

  6. пожалуйста: anyone who posts under a pseudonym has very little integrity … I like to know who I’m talking to.

For professional reasons, I’d prefer to keep what our German brothers-in-Christ call “Klarnamen” out of the public eye.

But I rather assumed that you had my email address? I will respond to any message.

      • For the record: in the years I’ve been writing this blog I’ve deleted over 100 posts, probably more … comments included, hundreds of them. That doesn’t mean I place no value on contributions, as you can see with Byron’s last post, originally sent as a comment. That sort of information is hard to come by and I value it highly.

Between age 25 and 35 I moved 5 times. Between 35 and 40 I moved another 3 times – this included a couple of interstate moves. This had nothing to do with running from anything, but in part interstate shifts for better employment opportunity, in part the challenges of renting and disagreeing with landlord’s (as well as at different times buying to get out of that rut), and in part changes in status (single, vs couple, vs family).

It also seems to be odd for someone who is so keen not to be found to be listed in phone books and traceable across so many locations – although it’s Jessica that’s traceable, not Prosper – so maybe пожалуйста is onto something.
I think it’s easy enough to dismiss her reaction to the bust on the basis that she knew him as an associate of Prosper if we really had to, and wasn’t comfortable with anyone being killed.

That said, Prosper is VERY active in the newspapers for someone in hiding. Although his name changes from Thomson, McTaggart., Thomas and various business names
