Derek Abbott. His theory.
Derek Abbott has provided many, myself included, with a great online storehouse of easily accessible information on this mystery – well, he and his UoA students have, and admirably so. A few blemishes here and there but who doesn’t make a mistake in a project of such magnitude ?
But the Professor, despite the breadth of his knowledge and depth of his research, has yet, as far as I can determine, formulated an all-encompassing theory on the great mystery. Rather, he has deliberately included himself into what he sincerely hopes will be part of The True Story of the Somerton Man.
Professor Abbott wants to be in the bloodline, be a part of it, his plan now depending on the government’s pleasure as they have seized and withheld publication of the results of what was a privately run DNA test backed by Abbott.
This as of yet unexplained action by the SA government may well indicate there is a degree of truth in some of the previously published theories, so the field remains open.
But I see a lowish score for Abbott nevertheless, despite the hereditary potentials.
