A letter from Jessica

Gordon Cramer has just put up a post based on a copy of part of one of Jessica’s letters. I hope he doesn’t mind me swooping on it, but he’s looking at it from his way and I’m mine. So I reckon it’s ok to go.

Here she is .. not happy.

… the one before, but how to make life interesting when one has two* demanding children who have to be fed and clothed?

I would be wise I suppose to be a withered u virgin in some hospital or another emptying pans and taking temperatures.

You have to ask yourself, what made life so interesting for JH before the demanding children, she was only a trainee nurse.

Letter dated 1957 with possible addressees E.M. Mcleish, Hamilton Vic., J.M. Carr, Largs S.A. or a guesstimate J.M. Thomson, Port Lincoln S.A.

How you off for socks and underwear… Jess wrote to sisterJean often when on her jaunts and kept in touch with little sister Ellen also. As for the other Jessica and George Thomson from Port Headland (& Glenelg), let’s await developents.

I’m presuming that Jessie was visiting E.N. McLeish when she died?

Not exactly sure if and or when Ellen moved to Hamilton. Jess may have had other reasons for going there to end her life, such as feeling comforted by the largest gathering of Thomsons statistically speaking, in the whole of God’s creation.

    • ‘Not exactly sure if and or when’ doesn’t do it for me Dusty
