58 Inside the event that may lead to the identification of ‘Mr Francis’
A NEW film by an Adelaide producer has uncovered evidence about the mysterious nurse at the centre of the 70-year-old mystery of the Somerton Man.
‘SM doco premiering at Mercury cinema in Adelaide tomorrow (Thursday 23rd) night. Sold out. Apparently includes interview with Jestyn’s sister and other known characters and witnesses.’
Paul Lawson – front row left. GF coming down the aisle on the left, fully relaxed.
“One last think I noticed. Look at the way Lawson is dressed. Is it just me or is he wearing the exact same outfit as SM. Tan trousers. brown shoes, black blazer , white shirt and tie with diagonal stripes. Coincidence? taking the piss??”
How thedude47 saw the evening. These are his pics and words.
“For those struggling with the where’s Wally see DA with his back to the camera in green check jacket in image 2 at the bottom left hand corner along side Rachel with blond hair and pearl necklace. Note the silver haired balding man a few feet to the professors left is former SA attorney general Chris Sumner. This was the best I could do in getting the professor, Rachel and Feltus in the one frame as I knew it would be almost impossible to prove they were all there otherwise.
(pic one) Old mate on the front row with bald head and walking stick was the mate of Jo Thomson who described her as ‘hot and cold” and how George was a bit of an anti social type. Polite but couldn’t wait till he saw you on your way out the door.”
thedude47 again, he should be writing for the newspapers.
‘The true identity of the mystery man who found the ROK may be revealed within days. Someone has come forward finally. Just some due diligence to do.’
‘The professor had what I believe to be the only jacket he owns. The bottle green check that he strangely matches with a grey light cotton jumper. He has worn this outfit in every public appearance he has made over the last decade. Most embarrassing was that he appeared in the doco in the exact same outfit he wore on the night. His unmistakable balding dome poking out of the green check is his signature look. Clothes by Country Road hair by Jims mowing.
Rachel stunned in a dazzling bright satin patchwork coat that could have been borrowed from the set of Joseph and the amassing technicolour dream coat. It had a classic Asian cut with an exaggerated collar. Could easily have been one of Robins stage costumes. Her hair was perfectly frosted and neatly cut. She accessorised well with a classy double set of pear necklaces. It was their night and they walked the red carpet like Brad and Ang. If you look at the image of Jess holding Robin aged about one its Rachel. The exact same little cherub face and round piercing eyes. I think she has inherited much of Jestyns gene pool. Tiny and petite, eclectic in taste and drawn to be attached to a strong male figure. Well Jess was her maternal grandmother so it stand to reason.
Feltus played it safe in a brown two piece with a white open neck shirt. The standard look for a a 60 to70ish Aussie to wear to anything from an RSL fundraiser to the wood chopping final at the royal show. A few too many frothy’s may have contributed to a larger girth than has been seen previously. He handled himself a s expected with little fuss and fanfare unlike the buzz that surrounded the Rach and the professor.
(fun fact Feltus appears in a local TV commercial for a reclining chair company)
Lawson sat front row centre and wore a black jacket with tan trousers with a white shirt. His tie was a winner teal, navy and blue diagonal stripes.
The postie from the 70s doco that Littlemore interviewed even made an appearance along with the lad who was the last to see SM on the night before, cant recall his name at this second.
It was a who’s who of all the living figures in the SM community.
No Thomsons or Leahys though.’
‘Jess was a flake according to close friends. She was warm and endearing over some periods of time but could then turn stone cold and barely acknowledge you*. That said any visitors to the Thomson home were for Jess not George (Prosper).’
*echoes of a similar sentiment voiced some years ago in a 60 Minutes interview by her daughter, Kate Thomson.
‘Other friends note that career wise George started at the top and worked his way down. Initially dealing in cars then “graduating to motor bikes, then push bikes” He finished up just trawling garage sales trading in odd and sods.’
In the audience: Gerry Feltus, Mr and Mrs Derek Abbott, Paul Lawson (aged 100), one of the strappers who found the body, the shadow SA Attorney General, John Ruffles, Gordon Strapps and thedude747.
Mr Francis has come forward, more to come.
The strapper noticed a tall man wearing a trench coat at the beach on the morning SM was found. The man was walking north, away from the body.*
Prosper ‘George’ Thomson met Jessica when ‘she was on a cliff, ready to jump’.
*The evening before, Olive Neill observed a male person standing at the top of the steps and looking over at the the man on the beach for about five minutes. This man was about fifty years of age, of stocky build, not tall and was wearing a navy suit and a grey hat.
