The intermediary passes a book containing a coded message to the engineer.

The intermediary assumes the code name ‘Jestyn’

June 1945

The engineer gives the book to his wife for safekeeping.

The engineer returns to Australia after an overseas posting.

Covert relationships are resumed.

The intermediary becomes pregnant.

December 1946

The engineer is posted to Georges Head, Sydney.

Late 1946

The intermediary leaves Sydney for Melbourne.

Early 1947

At about this time:

The engineer wrote to the intermediary at her Melbourne address.

The intermediary left Melbourne for Adelaide.

July 1947

The intermediary gives birth to a son, father unknown.

January 1948

The engineer returns to Australia after an overseas posting.

December 1948

The agent is found close by the intermediary’s home, murdered.

July 1949

The intermediary is interviewed at her home by the police in relation to the death of the agent. She responds to their questions and tells them of the book she gave the engineer in 1945. She names him as Alf Boxall.

The intermediary is again interviewed by the police in relation to the death of the agent at the the viewing of his bust. She does not answer any of their questions
