December 1: Unidentified male body 1 was delivered to the Adelaide morgue. Middle-aged, about medium height. Poisoned. Possible suicide. Fingerprints taken.

 

December 1: Body 1’s clothing, shoes and the two tickets found in his pocket were delivered to the metropolitan police lock-up.

Lockup deposit 1.

December 14: Identified male body 2 was delivered to the Adelaide morgue. Middle-aged, about medium height. Poisoned. Suicide. No report of fingerprints taken.

 

December 15: (about). One small case and a suitcase belonging to body 2 were delivered to the metropolitan police lock-up together with the clothes he was found in. No report of fingerprints taken.

December 21: Fingerprints purported to belong to body 1 distributed world-wide.

January 14: Police examined an unclaimed suitcase left at the Adelaide station’s luggage office. Several items were removed (below). No report of fingerprints taken.

January 19: The unclaimed suitcase was delivered to the metropolitan police lock-up. No report of fingerprints taken.

February 23: Body 2 buried.

June 6: Body 1 re-dressed for photographs prior to bust being made.

Lockup withdrawal 1

Prior to June 21: Clothes and slippers taken from police custody together with shoes known to be worn by body 1 were examined and compared to the clothes and shoes body 1 was wearing when found. The Tamam Shud slip was extracted from a fob pocket. No report of fingerprints taken.

Lockup deposit 7

June 14: Body 1 buried.

June 21: The inquest was adjourned.

July 23: Police were handed a coded copy of a Rubaiyat with a tear in the back page that matched the slip extracted from the fob pocket. No report of fingerprints taken.

Note: Some articles in the unclaimed suitcase were labelled T Kean(e). Male body 2 was identified as being former internee Tibor Kaldor.
