  1. I’m so delighted that my own theory isn’t on the list, that’s quite brightened up my January. 😉

    • You don’t appear have the (imaginative) capacity to create a theory … conspiracy / criminal speculation is beyond you, you have admitted as much.

      • The truth is that anyone who needs to invoke conspiracy for their theory to hold together isn’t actually working very hard. So the thing that’s beyond me is actually laziness. 😉

        • I’d say that your disinclination to spend time researching the large library of espionage works available, both real and imagined, demonstrates more than laziness.

          • Reading espionage literature is a lot like eating beetroot – unless you’re careful how you go about it, you’re going to end up with a purple face.

            • This from a man who has spent 10 years getting nowhere with the Voynich manuscript … unless you’re careful regarding how many more years you intend to spend pursuing this impregnable work, you may be the one ending up with a purple face.

              • petebowes: only our better-informed future selves (with access to the decryption) would be able to honestly judge such things.

For my own part, all I try to do is to understand these tangled things progressively better year on year, all the while avoiding being taken in by foolishness. And from where I’m sitting, there’s plenty of foolishness about. 😦

  2. …. a note for anyone who is confused by this exchange: Nick Pelling (better known as Dome) of Cipher Mysteries and I have enjoyed a combatative relationship over many years .. some of the exchanges have been bloody … this one though has the hallmarks of reasonableness.
It is a New Year, after all.

Gordon: If you’re still looking for Dan etta maybe try looking at the CO of Hay Camp (7), Its also possible that Mr. H could be your man. I’m no whiz at Hebrew or the classical Wop Languages but what I’ve given you seems to work for me in either case. Of course if you care to put your notes back through the gizmo, you could also end up with vandetta. cheers js.
